Mothers Day.....3 days late

I've been so busy with all the legality's and inventory issues with the Cafe' that I didn't have time to get to this.

Mothers Day was awesome this year!  Jack and I slept in while Dad made us breakfast, just as we were all about to sit down to eat, my son Phillip (the one with the really cool Culinary Degree from San Fran) walked in the door with a quiche, biscuits and homemade sausage gravy and biscuits.  The quiche was to die for, like nothing I had ever tasted, the texture being more like a souffle.  It was as light as anything you could imagine.

A little later in the day, my daughter Catherine hosted her very first family event.  She made this wonderful Lasagna, along with a "Pasta House" salad and this delicious Baked Asparagus and Garlic Cheese Bread. (which didn't make it into the picture) I found this recipe at Food Network that looks similar, though I know she didn't use lemon juice.  Lemon loving girl that I am though, I might give that a try!

The dinner was wonderful and I'm so happy to learn what a wonderful cook she has become. Not sure when this happened...:)

This asparagus was incredible, some of the best I think I've ever tasted.  She said all she did was coat it with salt, pepper, garlic and oil and then put it in the oven.  I'm thinking of trying this with the asparagus I had planned to par cook and marinate for Danika's baby shower on the 23rd of May.

If you decide to make this salad, though I've included a link to the recipe, when I make this myself, I marinade the artichoke hearts, pimento, red onions and parmesan together in the dressing for a period of time before tossing with the salad.  I swear this is what the actual restaurant does because all those ingredients are impregnated with the flavors of the dressing, even though I've never seen that step listed in any of the copy cat recipes. Even if it's not what they do, take my word for it...it's much yummier this way.

Wish I had taken some pictures of the family, some how or other, the day just got away from me. In the end it was a wonderful and memorable Mothers Day! (and I didn't have to cook....;-)
