How Do You Re-Boot Your Blog?

A bit ago I checked my email and found a notice letting me know that my domain for "The Re-Fluffed Nest" was set to auto renew within the next 90 days. May to be exact. So now the head spinning begins. What to do, what to do? I just don't know. I did love blogging and I felt like it helped invigorate my creative side, but like most things I do, once it started feeling like a chore I slowly lost interest until it became a distant memory...all be it one that nagged at me from the shadows of my mind.

To bad all of this didn't come to the forefront just a bit earlier. Since early January, soon after my mother took a fall in which she broke her wrist, I've been  working on making her home safe for her to continue to live in. Aging in place is the popular name for it right now. In any case, I'm nearly finished and sadly didn't document the process. The point is, it would have made a great blog post. Everything from making a home safe for an elderly parent living alone, to organizing, getting rid of hot spots (paper piles...;) to even decorating! Just this past weekend I made her a memo/calendar board just because I couldn't find anything that suited our needs. Heck, I even got to use spray paint! But alas, no pictures of that little project either.

Anyway, long story short...it's time for me to decide if "The Re-Fluffed Nest" will go on...or slowly ride off into the sunset of retired blogs. I'm going to give it some serious thought over the next week or so. I do have another little project I'm starting at moms soon. It has to do with inlaying a mosaic tile into her back splash where a hole from an old removed vent was removed many moons ago. Perhaps doing something I've never done could end up being worthy of sharing!

Take Care,

Sheree

Ambers Black Rooster Cottage Blog, Christmas Giveaway

I have a Christmas cookie post to share with you, but gosh darn I'm just so busy and still haven't gotten the photos off my camera. But my blogging friend Amber is having a wonderful Christmas giveaway on her blog that will be ending soon, so I wanted to send out a quick post about that! I love the pillows that she is giving away and thought about a few of my readers as well when I saw them! So if you're interested, hop on over there and take a quick peek!
The picture is a link...;)

The winner will be chosen Christmas morning, so don't dawdle! (Sorry I'm so late sharing this info with you)

First Snow

Let me start off by saying, as a rule of thumb, we don't get "measurable" snow on a regular basis around this area, so we tend to get a little excited over the white stuff! We do get snow every year, though seldom this early and it's always a surprise when it doesn't miss us! Well...It didn't MISS us this time! It is only around 2 1/2 inches but it's just stunning!! Beautifully white and fluffy, and the sort that you can just brush off your drive!

The birds are just going wacky and I just had to catch some of them in action! All of these photos were taken from inside because gosh darn it, it's COLD out there!

You think he spotted me? ;)

Althea's loving it!

Hope you all are having a most joyous day, whether you have some of the white stuff or not!

Winters Winds Are Blowing In...Sort Of

Happy Monday before Thanksgiving Everyone!

Jack is already on holiday break!  It's so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here, with the Christmas season just beyond.  Where the heck did this year go? Anyway, today we were blessed with temps in the 70's but with the promise of thunderstorms dropping the temperatures to more seasonal levels overnight.  I thought what better time than now to get out and get the roses trimmed back so they won't be whipping in the wind as winter creeps in.  Of course I forgot to take the camera out while Jack and I were working, but I did run back out and take some photos so you guys could see what a difference Autumn makes around here.

btw...I already DID the leaves, several times actually. What's left is just gonna have to be left! :)

And of course the reason for being out there....

These are on their last leg, but I couldn't resist saving them to bring inside anyway. They smell heavenly!

Once we were back inside I had promised Jack that he could give his Chia Kung Fu Panda another go round.   This silly thing was a gift from one of his brothers last year.  After it died back, we set him and the extra seeds aside to re do it at a later time. So that was today!

Jack loves this thing!

Hope everyone is having fun getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and precious time with family and friends!   We celebrate Thanksgiving at my sisters house, so I won't be having any Turkey recipes or photos to share on that matter, BUT...I did get a daring new area rug over the weekend and will be posting that this later this week!

Where Were You, This Day Last Year?

On this day last year, I was in a whirlwind of emotion....

As I looked on...

as my baby girl...

became a Bride.

It was a perfect September day...

for a wedding.

The stage was set

I preceded her...

as did Jack.

Then it was time...

the changing of the guard, so to speak.

She loves him, see it?

I see it.

And there she goes... with the "new" guard.

Of course he took her here...

to cut cake...

and to laugh...

at her Dad's speech.

And to eat...

and drink...

and dance...

and celebrate!

Happy One Year Anniversary, Baby Girl!

Jack’s First Day of School

The day has arrived. Early to bed worked, early to rise, worked. We we’re out the door by 7:30 and arrived right on time! I watched as the teacher escorted him from the car….I didn’t cry, instead I felt total joy for him and all of the adventures that lie ahead! He was a little anxious I think, as he informed me from the back seat that he “threw up” a little in his mouth! lol….I thought that was too cute!

I told Jack that we needed to take a first day of school photo like I always did with his siblings. He was not thrilled about this and through every photo was complaining that he was cold!

This is cold Jack…:/ btw…it wasn’t cold but there was a chill (I guess)

Cute face eh? *g*

I just couldn’t get a smile out of him, but he was happy, I swear!!

Ahh, now we’re happy because we have moved into backpack mode!

Ok, so that’s been my day so far. Now if I can manage not to forget to pick him up, I’ll have this day in the bag! Jim and I were out of town for the weekend, sort of like Summer Camp for grown ups! We had a blast and I’ll blog about it soon. For now, I’m just going to enjoy this especially quiet and relaxing day!

Hope everyone's week has started out on the right foot!

Jack's First Fishing Excursion

Last weekend we received a surprise invitation from some dear friends to come and visit and bring Jack fishing in their lake.  Jack has yet to be fishing, though his father and he spent a good day at Bass Pro Shop not long ago stocking up on all the necessity's for such an event!  So of course we gladly accepted the invite, which was to include a dinner of Fish Taco's from the days catch!

This post is going to be picture heavy as our Hostess took tons of wonderful pictures and I'm having a hard time picking which ones to leave out!   A little note about these fish....Our host, Keith feeds his fish, so they readily come and nearly jump on the hook! Jack of course had a blast and caught many fish. Three he and dad managed to reel in, several broke free as we were netting them and all but one, we threw back for another day!

Feeding the fish..(better known as luring them to their demise) *g*

The first cast

OMG, are you loving this?

Sweet Success!

Heading out on the boat to catch some Bass!  This was Jack's first time on a boat as well. (yes, we're boring)

Remember, it's a lake...no current, no storms and everyone can swim like a fish!

Isn't this just beautiful? This is the view our friends wake to every day....

Well that's our fishing day in images.  Thank you Brenda and Keith for sharing your beautiful world with us (and you're fish), and the delicious fish tacos!  If I ever wrangle that recipe from Keith, I'll be sure to share it with all of you here!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week!
