Cucumbers are in!

Jack and I have been watching the garden...checking it daily, yet these managed to mature without us ever noticing them doing it!

Cucumbers are funny that way....

The carrots aren't working out so well...*g*

So we sliced them up....

And tossed them with some onions, fresh tomato's, red wine vinegar, salt,  pepper and had a delicious, fresh from the garden salad!  I've decided that next year we are going to make a real garden. I've really enjoyed eating things that we have grown and knowing exactly where the food comes from along with what's been put on it! It's very satisfying and well worth the effort.

I'll post the main course tomorrow!  I got adventurous and made one of the Pioneer Woman's recent recipes! (changing it up a bit of course!)

More roses....

wordpress Tags: , ,

It's been raining here for days on end. Our seeds have sprouted in the vegetable garden, but it's so muddy we haven't been able to thin the sprouts out yet. The poor roses are so heavy with water, I've had to go out and trim them of their largest blossoms just to keep them off the ground. The only good thing about that is that I got to bring some in. I arranged them in my Mothers Milk Glass vase (which I'm pretty sure she has forgotten I have) and snuggled them in along some recent purchases I made from The Shabby Chic Cottage's Etsy store.

Jack’s Garden…(sort of)

Monday morning my sister came over, warm krispy kreme donuts in tow, and she tagged along with Jack and I as we headed out to buy plants for the garden. We had a hard time finding as many vegetable plants as we had hoped and ended up with more seeds then I wanted. Jack of course loves this because that's what he thought it was all about anyway! Dad got the garden tilled for us this morning, so here we go....
